Commonly known as Beechwood, Gmelina, Goomar teak, Kashmir tree, Malay beechwood, White teak and Vemane. It is a fast growing deciduous tree, occurring naturally throughout greater part of India at altitudes up to 1,500 meters. It is also planted in gardens and avenues.
